RESULTS - JANUARY 4 CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The North Myrtle Beach City Council met Monday, January 4, at City Hall for a 6:30 pm executive session and 7:00 pm meeting.

During the executive session, City Council received a legal briefing regarding the lawsuit entitled, City of Myrtle Beach, for Itself and a Class of Similarly Situated Plaintiffs, v. Horry County, 2019-CP-26-01732; discussed a potential contract between the City and Beam & Associates; and discussed potential appointments to the Planning Commission.

City Council took no action.

During the meeting, City Council presented a Proclamation to Howard Lockey in honor of his 51 years of service to North Myrtle Beach.

Howard Lockey joined the North Myrtle Beach Police Department on April 1, 1967. In November 1989, he earned the rank of sergeant. On April 19, 1994, he retired from the department.

Lockey then served as a part-time bailiff for the North Myrtle Beach Municipal Court from May 1, 1994 to April 30, 2018.

When presenting the Proclamation to Lockey, Mayor Marilyn Hatley noted that he became a police officer before North Myrtle Beach was incorporated as a city. She also recounted that he is known in the community as a very kind and caring person.

City Councilman Terry White, who also served as a North Myrtle Beach Police Officer, noted that at one point during his service Lockey was his sergeant.

We thank Howard Lockey for his five decades of service to North Myrtle Beach citizens and visitors.

City Council passed a motion to reappoint Lynn Clyburn, Peyton Henley, and Thomas Watts, to second terms on the Accommodations Tax Commission.

City Council passed a motion to appoint Dolly McDermott to fill one vacant seat on the Accommodations Tax Commission.

City Council passed second (final) reading of an ordinance annexing and zoning 0.78 acres on Little River Neck Road.

City Council passed second reading of an ordinance annexing and zoning 1.02 acres on Cenith Drive.

City Council passed second reading of an ordinance annexing and zoning 0.36 acres on Cenith Drive.

City Council passed second reading of an ordinance annexing and zoning 0.36 acres on Cenith Drive.
